Data: Sort

This lesson will investigate the Data Ribbon: Sort, Filter and Subtotal. Each Data command adds to your understanding of the numbers. Each option also has its limits: It can only do "so much."

 

When you Sort the data, you can find patterns. For example the customer information might make sense when it is sorted by City.

 

1. Try This: Sort the Data

Select the entire spreadsheet.

Go to Data ->Sort and Filter.

Click on Sort. When you are prompted choose:

Sort by: City

Sort On: Values.

Order: A to Z.
Click OK.

 

What Do You See? This Sort organized the customers by one criteria: City.
