Enable Macros in a Workbook What happens when you open a file that has Macros? 2. Try This: Open a File With a Macro Open the file you just closed: Sales 2013 with Macros EAN (where EAN are your initials). What Do You See? The Macro Enable workbook icon has a security warning: an exclamation point.   Consider This: Enable Content? When the file opens you should see a yellow security banner at the top of the spreadsheet. By default, all Macros are disabled in Excel.
