Exam 77-420 Microsoft Excel 2013
5. Create Charts and Objects
5.3 Insert and Format an Object: Modify Object Properties (Compress Pictures)

Compress Pictures

Pictures can be quite large and rich with detail. However, you may need to compromise quality for size if you plan on sharing your spreadsheet online or by E-mail. Each picture may be 4-8 MB, so it can add up.

1. Try it: Compress the Pictures

Select the picture first, please.
Go to Picture Tools->Format.
Go to Adjust->Compress Pictures.

2. What Do You See? When you select Compress Pictures, you will be prompted to review the Compression options:

Apply only to this picture: The Compression can be applied to all pictures, or only the one selected.

Delete cropped areas of pictures: Removing the cropped sections will reduce the size.

Target output: There are different resolutions for print, screen and E-mail that you can choose.

Accept the defaults: Apply to this picture, Delete cropped areas and use document resolution.
Click OK to Compress the picture.
