View: Ruler and Gridlines

Sophisticated authoring tools for designing digital and print publications use Rulers, Gridlines and Guides to place objects precisely. You can Show those tools in PowerPoint as well.

 

7. Try it: Show the Gridlines

Either presentation is open.
Any picture is selected.

Go to View ->Show. Select the following:
Ruler
Gridlines
Guides

OK, Try This: Use the Guides
Move the picture around the slide.

What Do You See? If you select the border around the picture, the Guides will show where the corners are on the Rulers on the top and on the left. If you select the picture and hold it in the middle, the Guides will show the center line for the image on the Rulers. That will work.

You can Show these tools if you wish.
