The word
MACRO comes from an old computer tool: the macro assembler. The
macro assembler would allow a programmer to combine a sequence of
instructions into a single statement. Combining a series of steps into a
working program meant that tedious, repetitive tasks could be automated. Making a Macro can be as simple as recording the mouse clicks as
you walk through a series of steps or instructions in Word, Excel,
PowerPoint or Access. The Macro recorder combines your steps into a
program. Your Macro can
be set up so that it will run whenever you click a custom Macro button
on the Ribbon. Macros can be assigned to a command button as well.
