Info: Check Compatibility
Microsoft
Office 2007, 2010 and Office 2013 have a new file format: XML (Extended
Markup Language). All new files now have four letter extensions. For
example, Excel 2013 workbooks are saved as myname.xlsx.
The format
is so different that older versions of Microsoft Office cannot even
open the new files without a free add-on. People are
slow to upgrade their systems. So, there may be some Compatibility issues.

Try it: Check Compatibility
Go to
File ->Info->Check for Issues.
Click on Check Compatibility.
Compatibility issues are grouped into 2 categories: Significant
and Minor loss of functionality. What do you lose?
Themes and Styles are not supported by earlier versions of Microsoft
Office. New
functions such as Slicers, Sparklines and PivotTable Slicers are not
supported, either. Click OK.
(Aw, you
never let me have any fun.)
