Lesson 8: Introduction to PowerPivot
Before You Begin: Download the sample database: Charlottes Website Data.accdb
Try This: Do the following steps
1. Open a new, blank spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.
2. Use the Excel Backstage Options to enable the PowerPivot Add-in.
3. In Microsoft Excel, use the Data Tools to Get External Data.
Browse to the folder where the sample database is saved.
Select a Data Source: Charlottes Website Data.accdb.
Select a Table: tblProducts.
Choose how to import the data: PivotChart.
4. Edit the PivotChart Fields
Axis:(Category): Type.
Values: Count of Item.
5. Format the PivotChart
Select a Chart Style.
Select a Chart Color.
6. Filter the PivotChart
Add a Filter in the Field List: Discontinued.
Filter the PivotChart. Show only the items which are not Discontinued (FALSE)
7. Edit the Chart Title: Charlotte's Current Items.
8. Save this Worksheet: YOUR NAME My
